Iron Harbor's Position on Fixing Credit Reports

Iron Harbor Mortgage does not refer credit repair companies.  The items that can be  removed permanently from your credit report are true errors.  If there are inaccurate items on your report, you can just as easily contest them yourself.  The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) offers a do-it-yourself guide to requesting that errors on your report be corrected at http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre13.shtm .  The site includes a sample dispute letter.

Please note that with many lenders a home loan cannot be closed until all disputed items are shown as no longer in dispute.  If you are planning to purchase or refinance in the immediate future, having disputed tradelines on your credit report could create a challenge until those disputes are resolved.  You may want to wait to request corrections to  your report until after you close on your loan.
